The Prince of Wales in India


When the Prince and Princess of Wales reached Calcutta during their 1905-06 tour of India they were photographed with various officials, one of whom was Captain Clive Wigram of the 18th Tiwana Lancers. He wears regimental Indian full dress, standing second from the right. The Prince of Wales sits on the left, next to Maharaja Sir Pratap Singh, wearing the white dress uniform of the Imperial Cadet Corps. The lady on the right is Lady Eva Dugdale, daughter of George Greville, 4th Earl of Warwick, married to Colonel Frank Dugdale, Equerry to The Princes of Wales. The officers standing behind are, from the left, Major Roberts of the 1st (Skinner’s) Bengal Lancers, Commander Godfrey-Faussett RN, Lt-Col Charles, Indian Medical Service, Capt Wigram, and Commander Sir Charles Cust Bt RN. The Indian Orderly Officer at top left of this detail is from the Corps of Guides.
