The dress uniform of a dafadar of the 18th Lancers had gold lace on the front, neck and sleeves, and gold laced chevrons on the right arm. The red kurta was set off by a blue kummerband and a polished leather Sam Browne belt. The waist-belt has two small pouches on each side of the buckle. His blue puttees have unusual short gaiters just below the knee. He was in the same group photo of Indian cavalrymen who performed at the Royal Military Tournament in 1902.
