Macgregor Canal, Lagos


The rear of this photograph explains that this looking out of Macgregor Canal to Five Cowrie Creek in Lagos taken in 1938. The McGregor Canal was dug by Governor William McGregor. McGregor had been a medical doctor himself and so was keen to improve the sanitary conditions in Lagos. The canal divided the island into Lagos Island and Ikoyi Island.
