Ibadan Spring Race Meeting, 1931


Ibadan was large enough to support a fully fledged race meeting. Horses were still very much part of the culture for the colonial administrators despite the arrival of the car. It reminded them of home and of enjoying themselves. The blue lines point to where Dr Glover is located to the right of the picture and his wife to the left. The picture below shows the crowd at the 1930 Ibadan Race Meeting.
