Wedding at Itu, 1926

The text explains that this wedding was of Annie Couper to Alex Tozer in Itu in 1926. Dr Glover is sitting in the bottom right of the photograph. Note the obligatory sun helmets even at a time of a formal occasion like this wedding. Note also the presence of a Nigerian lady as a guest. Also note the imbalance of male to female guests. Most European women were likely to be spouses of European men or nurses or a very few in the Education Department. Otherwise, there were few opportunities for European women in Colonial Nigeria at this time.
