Sleeping Beauty

Working in Nigeria entailed a lot of travel by steam ship to and from the colony. Nigeria also had a notoriously challenging climate and environment which meant that colonial servants got more leave than was usual in the Colonial Service to help them recover and recuperate from the various tropical afflictions that were likely to beset them. It is not clear when this photograph was taken but appears on a page of other photographs from Nigeria c1924 so is likely to be around that date.
