The "Doc" at Sport

The culture for European elites adored hunting and Africa held hunting trophies that were particularly sought after. Many colonists would have taken positions in Africa based largely on the 'sporting' opportunities that such a position would have offered. Many of these trophies would have been turned in to highly prized rugs, wall hangings and artwork that would have been displayed prominently for all to appreciate. This photograph says it was taken in Huambo in 1913.
