Clive’s first tears were in the region of Madras on the south east coast. From 1756, Clive was involved in the Seven Years War and moved to Calcutta and fought the battle of Plassey just to the north, on the river Hooghli. Some places in the text are not on the map: Fort St David, Cuddalore is just south of Pondicherry. Odisha is a region around the Eastern Ghats.
