The undress sabretache worn by officers during the Regency period probably had a reverse G P cypher as shown here. The careful rendering of the pattern on a sabretache hanging on the mess wall in a contemporary cartoon is evidence that this may be correct. An actual example of an undress sabretache badge is different, and probably adopted later. The cartoon is shown below to give context.
