Two privates in drill order gallop forward while a squadron stands in ranks behind. The men wear stable dress and pill-box forage caps, and carry lances in the same manner as those, 60 years earlier, in the 1831 painting. They are armed with sword and carbine as well as the lance, and carry ammunition in a black leather pouch attached to their white leather pouch-belt.
