Divie Knighton Robertson was born in Wiston, Sussex in April 1851. He was the son of the Rev. Divie Robertson and Barbara Watson. He entered the 9th East Norfolk Regiment as an ensign in September 1869 and commanded the 1st Battalion from August 1894 to September 1896. The battalion had been on active service in Burma since the beginning of 1891 and returned to India in December 1893. Lt Col Robertson took over command in Dagshai, moving to Umbala in October. They took part in the Viceroy’s Durbar at Lahore at the end of November. After more time spent at Dagshai and Umbala they marched to Allahabad in 1896 where Lt Col Robertson relinquished command.

He was married on 14 Jan 1877 to Agnes Day. They had 6 children and lived in Yarmouth. He died in 1914.
