Admiral Keppel’s ships, showing the White Ensign on the stern, are anchored off Bellisle on 8 April 1761, and assault parties of grenadiers can be seen in smaller boats, rowing towards the shore. The central ship has men boarding a boat laying alongside. The clouds look ominous and in fact produced a storm later that evening.
