The 9th (The East Norfolk) Regiment of Foot

Drummers in India 1934

The 1st Battalion was stationed in India in 1934. These drummers pose in their summer dress uniforms with white foreign service Wolseley helmets that have a yellow pagri wrapped around with the brass chin strap worn attached to a hook at the back. They have brass buttons and Norfolk Regiment Britannia Badges on their collars. All three have black plaited cords and tassels, but only the drummer on the left of the photo has a bugle strung from his left shoulder. All of them would be proficient buglers, fifers and drummers.
