The Drums and Band were serving in India in 1934 as part of the 1st Battalion The Norfolk Regiment. In the summer months dress uniform was all white with a foreign service white helmet that, for the Norfolks, had a yellow pagri wrapped around the crown. A brass spike was attached to the top. Drummer Hanks was either the bass drummer of the Corps of Drums or the time-beater of the band. He wears a leopardskin apron and has a white leather collar to attach the bass drum. Gauntlets are not worn, presumably they were only for winter wear.
