Drummer’s Tunic Detail 1905

The dress tunic that was issued to Drummer Sergeant Sidney Clarke in the period 1905 to 1914 has been photographed in close-up to show the collar and shoulder strap. The crown-and-inch lace that runs around the top of the collar can be seen to have red Imperial crowns along its length. The lace is also on the sleeves and the back of the tunic. The lower edge of the collar and the edge of the shoulder strap have a red and white check pattern. This can also be found on the edge of the pointed yellow cuffs. The brass Britannia badge on the collar is mirrored on the other side so that the figures face inwards. The buttons are the universal pattern British army buttons issued to the rank and file, and the brass title on the shoulders simply says NORFOLK. The tunic is missing the distinctive red and striped shoulder wings.
