This enlarged detail is taken from a miniature painting of an officer of the 9th, showing that the shoulder-belt plate was silver in the 1790s. The figure of Britannia is obscure but appears to have a helmet. The edge of the oval plate is plain, not beaded like the one worn by the officer in the Dayes print.
