British Empire Title

The 9th (The East Norfolk) Regiment of Foot

Private, Parade Order c1908

The 1st Battalion the Norfolk Regiment was stationed in Warley, Essex, from 1907 to December 1909 and this photo was probably taken there. The private wears a scarlet dress tunic with yellow facings. The undress peaked forage cap replaced the unpopular peakless Brodrick cap c1907. It was all blue with a red piped rim to the top. He holds a Lee Enfield .303 rifle, and his bayonet can be seen under his left arm although it should be further round to the back.
