The scarlet serge frock worn in India had a white collar but the cuffs were plain scarlet. The collar had a Britannia badge on each side. The frock fastened with five buttons. The spiked white foreign service helmet has a yellow pagri and a regimental badge on the front. In March 1902 the 1st Battalion went to Amballa and took part in the Delhi Durbar to mark the accession of King Edward VII. It is stated that there “its yellow pugaries attracted much attention.” The Norfolk Regiment was anxious to regain the yellow facings they had been obliged to relinquish in 1881. They had to be content with white facings until April 1905 when they were once more permitted to have yellow collars and cuffs.
