The officer in this photo wears a similar uniform to the one in the Norie watercolour. The cuffs are well shown here, with the three bastion-shaped gold lace button-holes on yellow cloth slash flaps. The embroidered crown badges on each side of his collar denote the rank of lieutenant. Ensigns had star badges and captains a crown and star.
