The lance corporal wears the same order of dress as the Sergeant Piper 1906 and displays the pipe banner with 18 battle honours on scrolls, together with the Sphinx with EGYPT below the central badge. He has white lace on his shoulder wings but a gold lace rank stripe on his right arm. His waist-belt clasp is oval, not rectangular like the Sergeant Piper’s clasp, and his sporran has a less ornate cantle. The plaid appears voluminous and bunched across his chest with the plaid falling off his shoulder, held in place by a plain circular brooch. This photo can also be compared to the Harry Payne painting of Drummer, Bandsman & Piper c1905 which shows a piper in Parade Order but having the shoulder paid worn over his shoulder belt and no pipe banner.
