Conditions on the peninsula of Walcheren were sparse, damp and unhealthy in 1809 when the British army had to make camp for the bombardment of Flushing (Vlissingen). This contemporary print shows the town under siege from land artillery and ships. The caption to this print is ‘Flushing during the Seige taken from the Knole House Dyke’.
