On 29 oct 1898 Queen Victoria presented Colours to the 2nd Battalion Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders at her Scottish home, Balmoral Castle. She can be seen sitting in her carriage with a Lady-in-Waiting. The Colours are held by two subalterns, with the battalion drums in the middle. The officer wearing trews is the commanding officer of the 2nd Battalion, Lieutenant-Colonel James Maitland Hunt.
