The close view of the painting reveals the detail on the Havildar’s headdress. The red beads on the right side are placed inside circular white patterns, and a device on the left side is shaped like a crescent with a letter or symbol inside. On top is a rounded half-ball tuft with a red base. There is no chin-strap. The collar and cuffs are decorated with white braid and the three vertical rows of buttons on the front are linked with braiding. The shoulder straps are blue to match the jacket, edged with white. A white shirt is in evidence, revealed by the collar points and pleated cuff.
