The belt plate worn by officers from 1847 was similar to the 1836 pattern but with the addition of the battle honour SOBRAON on a scroll beneath the laurel wreath. The battle of Sobraon was fought against the Sikhs on 10 Feb 1846. The scroll for PENINSULA is better than previously, and not so confined. In 1855 uniforms were radically altered so that shoulder-belt plates became obsolete.
