The Albert shako adopted by the infantry in 1844 and worn during the Crimean War had this all gilt star plate on the front, topped with a Victorian crown. It is 5.4 inches deep by 4.5 inches wide. The battle honours are inscribed on the central circle; EGYPT and PENINSULA, but no Sphinx.
