The shako plate for officers in this period was based on a gilt star with a crown at the top. The 10th regiment plate had a hobnail star superimposed on the gilt. In the centre a circular strap with the two battle honours EGYPT and PENINSULA. The central domed silver plate had a frosted gilt X. It was unusual for a regiment entitled to the honour for Egypt not to have the Sphinx.
