This drawing was made by W Y Carman for his book Indian Army Uniforms, Cavalry (1961). It is based on a sketch in a tailor’s book, described as being dark blue with silver lace. Based on actual examples such as the sabretache of the 7th BLC, it is reasonable to assume that the embroidery is all silver as well. The lace border is in the usual light dragoon herringbone train pattern. As there is only one battle honour it may be that this sabretache dates before 4 Oct 1842 when they were awarded CABOOL. Their third battle honour, MAHARAJPORE was awarded on 4 Jan 1844.
