Lieutenant-General Sir John Monash

Australian participation in the disastrous Gallipoli campaign has passed into popular culture. Monash turned his corps into one of the most professional and appreciated of allied formations and they were crucial in absorbing and then rolling back the Germans from their Ludendorff offensives.
