Africa Desirability Map

This is a fascinating period map that purports to show the areas that the Europeans are most interested in acquiring and settling and the areas which are resisting these incursions the most. It would appear that there is little correlation between the areas that the Europeans most want and the determination of resistance to them. It seems as if the resistance is most significant in the areas of least economic value. This would seem to suggest that European acquisition of land in Africa would not be overly resisted in the most desirable of areas and vindicate the Scramble for Africa.
