Irish Troops in the Judaean Hills Surprised by a Turkish Bombardment


This painting by Henry Lamb helps illustrate the fact that so many Irish troops volunteered to fight for King and Country in World War One. They came from all sides of the religious divide and served with great distinction on all the fronts. This particular image shows them on the Palestinian Front under a Turkish bombardment.
