Irish Eviction

This 1847 painting by John Joseph Barker shows a typical scene as many Irish families were forced to leave their lands in pursuit of a livelihood and the ability to feed their families. Many thousands came to Liverpool, London and other ports in Britain. Many more went on to America, Canada, Australia or other parts of the Empire in search of a new life.
