Bishop Waite Hockin Stirling


W. H. Stirling became the first Bishop of the Falkland Islands. This title was far more impressive than it sounded as it was not purely concerned with the spiritual welfare of those on the Falkland Islands, but of those in the Anglican See of most of South America (all except Guiana). He was therefore at the centre of a huge missionary network all guided from the Falkland Islands. He had a mission ship the Allen Gardiner at his disposal to help administer his See.
