Reception at Larnaca

The troops can be seen on the landing piers built by the Indian Sappers and Miners who were landed on 19 July 1878 a few days before the main force. On the left is a tent with a flagpole flying the White Ensign and sailors at the base. Other tents have been erected as reception centres where a record can be made of which units and equipment have been disembarked. A group of soldiers on the higher ground congregate near piled rifles, and a camel train moves off to the right.
