Codrington College

Codrington College is the oldest theological college in the Caribbean. It was built with money and plantations donated by Christopher Codrington the younger. It was bequeathed to the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel in Foreign Parts but included slaves as part of the bequest. This meant that the Church became a slave owner which compromised their moral standing but was totally in keeping with the social mores of the time. It is still in operation to this day.
