Anti-Slavery Medallion

This Anti-Slavery Medallion was made by Josiah Wedgewood in 1787. The pose and style of this medallion was meant to hark back to classical imagery which was thought to appeal to the intellectual and reasonable faculties of the educated elite. It is a thought provoking piece of jewellery designed to be talked about and discussed.
