This photo is taken from British Army Badges by Robin Hodges (2005). They are modern, described as ‘Officer’s No.1 Dress and Mess Dress wire-embroidered collar badges 6.75 x 4.5cm.’
Dress Regulations for the Army 1900 (David & Charles Reprints, 1970) describes the same pattern collar badge for the King’s Own Scottish Borderers:
‘On a dark blue cloth ground, the Castle of Edinburgh in silver embroidery. A flag in blue and crimson embroidery flies from each tower. The Castle rests on thistle leaves, etc., in gold embroidery. Beneath the gold embroidery a scroll, inscribed “The King’s Own Scottish Borderers,” on a ground of light blue silk.’
