This has been worn by Pipe Majors of the KOSB in modern times, but actually dates from 1887 because of the Victorian crown. The photo comes from Robin Hodges’ British Army Badges (2005) , who points out that the Royal Crest is known as the ‘Dog and Bonnet’.
