Officer’s Shako Plate 1855–61

Officer’s Shako Plate 1855–61

The pattern of shako worn by the 25th Regiment was changed in 1855, and this simplified design was adopted for most line regiments, apart from Fusiliers, Rifle regiments and Light Infantry. The central number was fixed to a black leather background, and the motto Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense appeared on the Royal Garter. The plate measures 92mm in width and 104mm in depth.
