This photo of Lieutenant-Colonel Claude V E Laurie DSO, commanding officer of the 3rd Battalion from 1905-1910, shows the dress uniform of a field officer. He has extra gold lace and braid on his collar, and two rows of gold lace on the cuffs and Inverness skirts. The gold shoulder cords have embroidered rank badges of a crown and star. The sword is a field officer’s sword worn by mounted officers, suspended on slings attached to a shoulder belt which has a belt-plate near the right shoulder. The waist-belt is gold laced with a gilt and silver waist-belt plate. He holds his Kilmarnock Bonnet cocked and white gloves in his right hand. His trews are in Leslie tartan.
