Lord Bolton (1845-1922) of Bolton Hall near Leyburn in North Yorkshire was Lieutenant-Colonel and Honorary Colonel of the Yorkshire Hussars from 1898 to 1903. His son, William George Algar, the 5th Baron Bolton (1869-1944) also served in the regiment. The uniform here is the undress blue serge frock introduced in 1895, with the badge on the collar. He also wears the scarlet pill-box cap with silver lace cap-band.
