The men stand around the horses used to pull the machine gun. They are supervised by a regular cavalry sergeant who stands on the left, Sgt Nicholas of the 14th/20th Hussars.
Lt Barlow directs the fire of the machine gunners with Sergeant Nicholas in attendance.
