British Empire Title

4th Dragoon Guards

Sabretache, 1830 - 1854

The regiment was ordered to wear gold lace in 1830 and adopted the S and vellum pattern lace, The 4th were the only heavy cavalry regiment not to have the royal cypher in the middle of the design. Instead they had the star of St Patrick with shamrocks in place of the usual oak leaves. The crown is also unusual in being a Guelphic crown.
