The Regimental Colour of the 2nd Battalion The Norfolk Regiment presented in 1909 was yellow, in line with the yellow facings restored to the regiment in 1905. The layout of the badge and battle honours conforms with the 1881 regulations. The battle honours are arranged in a circle, on a laurel wreath, ten on each side. The previous Colour had 18 honours but in 1909 some regiments had been awarded retrospective honours for battles fought in the 18th century. HAVANNAH, dating back to 1762, and MARTINIQUE 1794, were added to the list.
The 1st Battalion had identical Colours, apart from the Roman numeral in the top corner, which were received from their Colonel-in-Chief, King Edward VII on 5 June 1909. The presentation was made in the State Ballroom of Buckingham Palace because of inclement weather. The battalion had a strength of 480, commanded by Lt-Colonel Marriott DSO, stationed at the Tower of London, 3 companies were at Gravesend and the headquarters company was at Warley.
