The inscription around the central bugle device reads SYLHET LIGHT INFANTRY. This would date it before 1886 when the name Sylhet was dropped and the title Gurkha added. There is no 44 as would be expected. The style is similar to other Gurkha belt plates but is quite plain and roughly cast. The auction information written by Dix Noonan Webb (17 -18 July 2019) described it as die cast white metal and put a price of 300 to 400 pounds on it.
