The No.1 Dress jacket is worn by this officer with collar badges of the Assaye Elephant of the 78th Regiment. The short squared-off tails of the jacket have buff turn-backs with three buttons on each turn-back. The white shoulder belt supports his broadsword and has a belt plate bearing the regimental badge of the Queen’s Own Highlanders (Seaforth and Camerons). The badge is also on his glengarry cap and on the cantle of his goat-hair sporran. His belt clasp, however, has the St Andrew badge of the Camerons. His kilt is in the MacKenzie tartan and his hose are also derived from the uniform of the Seaforths. The photo was posed by Captain N G Smith in 1974 and published in Queen’s Own Highlanders by Lt-Colonel Angus Fairrie (1983)
