The 1902 pattern dress tunic is worn by this private of the Lincolnshire Regiment. The facings remained white until the end of full dress in 1914, despite many regiments being allowed to revert back to their pre-1881 facings. The cuffs were pointed and the collar was plain white with a regimental Sphinx badge on each side. The shoulder straps identify the tunic as the earlier pattern worn from 1902 to 1907. They are scarlet, edged in white with the title of the regiment in white embroidery. After 1907 the straps were all white with a brass title.
On his left sleeve are two white good conduct stripes for at least 6 years service. His musketry proficiency badge is crossed rifles in gold embroidery, with a star badge above. He has medals for the war in Sudan and South Africa. He is armed with the .303 Mark III SMLE rifle and bayonet.
