This is me on one of the range days, you will note the burnt grass. This was because in the wet season the grass on the range grew quickly and to quite a depth, (see the dry grass just before the treeline) so normally most ranges would try & cut the grass in the early dry season and when it was dry enough, burn it off to give a completely clear field of fire.
The hat I am wearing is the issue "bush hat" normally only worn in rural stations or as I was, on border patrol.
