Slavers Raiding a Village in Northern Nigeria

This is a woodcut based on a sketch the interesting German explorer Heinrich Barth who travelled through the area in the 1840s on behalf of the British government. He noted that the slavers travelled without wooden poles in order to travel faster and so were relying on the tents to provide the support for their tents.
