This photo was taken in August 1952. It shows the enumerator writing on the census form the results of questioning the householder - as worked out with finger in the and on the floor. Over 20,000 of these formes were used in Sokoto Province. Below, a householder looks a bit puzzled at the questions being asked of him (most of them were at some point).
