The date of the KDG Standard in this illustration is not known, but it is pre-World War One and must have replaced the Standard which had Queen Victoria’s cypher and Crown, but included battle honours received in 1909. It has the cypher of King George V and the King’s Crown. It differs from other KDG Standards in that the title of the regiment surrounds the central Garter. This would be the last time that the battle honours were repeated on the other side of the flag. After WW1 there would be too many honours and they would have been distributed on both sides. This illustration includes the pole with the Royal Crest on top, and the gold and crimson cords and tassels. The KDG were stationed in India from 1908 to 1914, so may have received this Standard while stationed there.
